{Content Warning: Eating Disorders} Have you ever felt guilty about eating the foods you love? If so, this episode is for you.
My guest, Alishia McCullough, is a millennial Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist and the founder of Black and Embodied. In this conversation, we explore how our relationship with food is not only personal, it’s political, it’s historical and shaped by trauma.
We explore:
How Alishia got started in this work
The ways that diet culture, healthism distorts our relationship with food
How fatphobia is rooted in white supremacy and impacts the ways we nourish ourselves
The importance of shifting our language away from “eating disorders” to “eating imbalances” and the Indigenous wisdom around embracing this perspective
and so much more…
I hope this episode invites you to have a more holistic relationship with food and with yourself. I also hope the next time you sit down for a meal there’s less guilt and more joy.

If you’ve ever quoted Audre Lorde, you’re going to love this episode with Dr. Briona Simone Jones. Dr. Jones is a scholar, professor and editor of the multi-award-winning book, Mouths of Rain: An Anthology of Black Lesbian Thought.
Mouths of Rain is the most comprehensive anthology centering Black Lesbian Thought to date.
During this thought-provoking conversation, we explore the erasure of Black women specifically Black lesbian thinkers such as Audre Lorde, Alexis De Veaux, Cheryl Clarke among others and the importance of reclaiming their contributions.
We also discuss how this intersects grief, intimacy, pleasure and liberation all through the revolutionary and healing power of the archives.

This episode is expanding on a piece I wrote about how the theme for this year emerged - it's all about going all in when it comes to our soul's work and we're doing it workshop style!
In this episode I riff on...
How going all in can feel edgy, dangerous and the important re-frame that can allow us to expand.
The role that our past traumas play in going all in.
An important message that emerged about going all in which is key to taking the pressure off.
I take you through some workshop style inquires that peel back the layers to identify where you're being called to go all in, the support you need and more.
Plus, I talk about going all in in a way that's regenerative and doesn't subscribe to grind culture, exploitation and extraction.
